THE PURPOSE
Vedic Astrology, called Jyotisha, the Science of Light was practiced by the ancient sages of India over 5,000 years ago. Based on the sidereal zodiac, Jyotisha accurately reflects the positions of the planets in the constellations as recognized by modern astronomy. As one of the ancient sources of astrology, this practice is world renown for spiritual depth and accuracy in predicting future events.

The Goals of the Vedic Astrology Symposium:
To promote the development of the American College of Vedic Astrology as a non- profit educational organization.

To establish professional standards in the training and practice of Vedic Astrology in the West.

To provide accredited classes for certification and training in Vedic Astrology.

To promote the free exchange of ideas among practitioners and students of various schools of astrology.

The Eleventh International Symposium on Vedic Astrology will offer beginning, intermediate and advanced training for students and professional astrologers. On behalf of the ACVA staff, you are warmly invited to join thirty-four renown practitioners and teachers of Jyotisha to explore and learn the spiritual sciences of ancient Vedic wisdom.

THE PEOPLE
Chakrapani Ullal is a world-renowned Vedic Astrologer from Kerala, South India. In 1979, he was invited to America by Swami Muktananda as an astrological consultant. He hold the titles of Jyotish Kovid (Proficient in Jyotish) and Jyotish Vachaspati (Professor in Jyotish) by the Indian Council of Astrological Sciences and is on the Board of the American College of Vedic Astrology.

Dr. David Frawley (Pandit Vamadeva Shastri) is the author of more than twenty books on different aspects of Vedic knowledge including Vedic Astrology, Ayurveda and Yoga. He is the director of the Institute of Vedic studies in Santa Fe. Dr. Frawley is a board member of the American College of Vedic Astrology. He has been granted the titles of Jyotish Kovid and Jyotish Brihaspati by the Indian Council of Astrological Sciences.

K. Kailasnath is a reputed Jyotishi from Southern India. His specialty is the fascinating Ashtamangala Prasna of Kerala. He is also an expert in the traditional upayes (remedial measures) of India and other curative measures for various human problems.

Jaya Sekhar has been the President of the Institute of Astrological Studies, Madras; the Vice-president of the Institute of Indian Astrology, Calcutta; and Research Director of the astrological section of Bharat Nirman, New Delhi. He has presented papers, given conferences and conducted workshops on varied subjects such as palmistry, Vasthu and Hindu philosophy and yoga.
